It has been the only subscription service that I have stuck with for a year, and I actually paid for a year in advance in February. Before I started blogging or even stopped relaxing my hair I picked up  Curly Girl: The Handbook by Lorraine Massey. I remember that I didn't even read the book. I just popped in the DVD that was included and thinking "this seems like it wouldn't work for me". Now a few years later after seeing this book mentioned countless times on YouTube I pulled it out and actually read it. The book is a guide to the Curly Girl Method (or C.G. Method) and it gives you the steps to obtain beautiful curls. The main points of the book are to stop using shampoo, silicone in hair products, combs, brushes, and flat irons. Now the part I am having a hard time with is the no silicones. After looking at the products I use quite a few of them contain some form of silicone. The book states that silicones coat the hair and don't allow moisture to get in, and that the only way to remove silicones are with shampoo which is a major no no because it is drying to the hair. I try to do a treatment about once a week on my hair, and after watching a bunch of YouTube videos on natural hair I decided to try Shea Moisture Purification Masque. This mask retails for about $10 at Target or Walgreeens and it has tea tree and willow bark to help dry itchy scalp. I don't have scalp issues but since I heard so much about it and I saw it on sale I bought it. The consistency of this mask is like melted ice cream so it can be a bit messy. What I first noticed about this mask was how easy it was to detangle my hair, it is like magic. I have broken combs before just trying to detangle my hair so trust me when I say detangling can be a nightmare.I normally leave this on over night after I shampoo and in the morning when I rinse it out my hair is amazingly soft. If it wasn't for YouTube I would have never have picked up this mask since I don't have scalp issues, but I am sure glad I did. XOXO!

Back in December I got an  Influenster Holiday VoxBox  and did a review on  NYC New York Color Liquid- Lpshine . In my  May Beauty Army Kit  I received  Grand Central Beauty Smart Skin Perfecting Mask  and couldn't wait to try it. The sample kit I got came with the active mask powder, an intense booster vial and a spatula. This mask claims to Smooth, Moisturize, Anti-Age, Reduce redness, and Tone (S.M.A.R.T). The instructions were to mix the powder and the vial together along with water until everything was thoroughly combined. I applied the mask to my face and let it sit for 15 minutes and then peeled it of. When this mask dried it felt rubbery but that made it easy to peel off. It kind of reminded me of the Bliss No Zit Sherlock Breakout Busting Rubberizing Mask. After I removed the mask my skin did feel Smooth and Moisturized. I didn't notice any Anti-Aging but I am in my 20's so I wasn't expecting much. I did however notice Redness reduction on some post breakout spots, and I my skin Tone was slightly improved . Overall I like the mask, the full size retails for $75

Last week I attended  Shecky's  Girls Night Out, in San Francisco. This was my 4th time attending Girls Night Out (click  HERE  to see last time), and it was as fun as always. The  Shecky's Girls Night Out  event happens in a bunch of cities across the U.S., and it is a night of cocktails and shopping. Here are a few pics from the night One of the vendors selling clothing and accessories American Laser Skincare was giving demos of their services and I got a cellulite treatment. Cointreau sponsored a mixology class where we learned how to make margaritas Maybelline was giving makeovers and here was my finished look. and of course the free cocktails!!!! I purchased a few things  a bracelet  and faux lashes  and then there was the goodie bag, to me there was random stuff in it but hey I had a fun night!

This is my first Mystery Box and here is what I got -4 Julep Nail Polishes in "Leah" (green) "Sienna (metallic gold) "Hayden"(creamy orange) and "Gayle"(purple) -Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub -Julep Crystal Nail File I am happy with this mystery box I already own the nail file, but there is no harm in having a spare. I was also happy that these 4 colors were ones I didn't already own. XOXO!

I picked up a few things at Sephora. I needed some bareMineral foundation because the weather is getting warmer, bliss poetic waxing strips, a new mineral foundation brush and, a nail polish kit. Here is a closer look, I can wear a few different shades in bareMinerals but golden medium looks best on me  This is a Sephora brand brush it's #45 I have tried bliss wax before (the blue kind) so I wanted to give this a try This is The New Black Typography 4-piece nail polish set. This kit looked interesting it is suppose to give you a newspaper nail design, and I am exciting to try it. 

Recently Essence Magazine had the top beauty subscription services, and I learned about  My Shade of Brown . My Shade of Brown offers "pillow boxes" that have beauty samples tailored to women of color. The first pillow box was $5 but it is normally $10 a month. I dyed my hair again, this time I used Clairol's Textures and Tones in the color "Flaming Desire", I applied the hair color to my ends first, waited 10 minutes then applied the dye to my roots and left it on for another 10 minutes. Normally my roots takes color really fast and I didn't want bright roots and dark ends, but I think I should have left it on my roots a bit longer. Here is my before   and here is my after (my hair just has leave in conditioner)  Overall I am happy! XOXO!
